Junior Varsity Coach Christopher Campbell
I am excited to be joining the coaching staff for the Freedom High School Volleyball Team this season. My background in the sport of volleyball includes 14 seasons of coaching at the elementary and middle school levels. I have coached developmental, house, open, travel and all-star teams with DSYS and LYV. I have also coached club for DSYS over the past two seasons at the U14 level.
I was fortunate enough to be introduced to volleyball by my oldest daughter, Virginia, and have been coaching ever since, including two seasons coaching my middle daughter, Julia. Although I had never played competitively, I quickly fell in love with the sport. Prior to volleyball, I coached high school rugby, winning the Virginia State High School Rugby Championship in 2013. I also played rugby throughout the world, and locally for the Northern Virginia Rugby Football Club, winning a national championship in 1996. I represented the United States in rugby from 1993 to 1996, playing against then world champions Australia, as well as Argentina, Bermuda, Canada and Ireland. I also represented the United States in international tournaments in Malaysia, Japan, Hong Kong and Hawaii.
When not coaching, I enjoy fitness training, biking, playing rugby, playing recreational volleyball, reading, trying new restaurants, and throwing the baseball with my son, Isaac.
