Dear Freedom Community,
It has been amazing to see the outpouring of support for our team as we plan and prepare to compete in our school's first ever Volleyball State Final appearance for a chance at winning the title! The team has worked so hard to get to this point and are so excited for the opportunity in front of us!
While we wish that we could pack the gym with all of our supporters, due to COVID restrictions, we are limited to the number of spectators that can be there in person with us to 100. We were able to get each players' family into the gym for the game and it sounds like many friends and other supporters will be there to cheer us on as well! We are truly grateful that we get to have spectators there to watch as history is made. This is also the first time that the final will be hosted by one of the teams and we are thrilled to have this event at home!
For those of you who were unable to purchase a ticket, but would still like to enjoy the fan experience in some way, Glory Days in Stone Ridge will be live streaming the game at 3:00pm on Saturday, 4/24 and students will receive a 10% discount if they bring their student ID. Flyer attached.
If you can't make it out to Glory Days, you can stream the game with a subscription to the NFHS network (just search for freedom high school). The subscription is 10.99/month and can be canceled any time. So, for the price of about 1 ticket, you can watch the game from home with your family! Take photos of your fan experience and tag our instagram account @freedom_volleyball and on twitter @FreedomVolley.
If you are joining us live in the gym, please remember to be loud and be proud, and we will feed off of your energy!!! (and remember, no artificial noisemakers)
-Coach Davis, Coach LaMantia, and Coach Thomas
Tickets for the Volleyball State Semifinal will go on sale to the general public at 2:00pm today. Please use the following link to access our team page and each fan purchase up to 2 tickets (per transaction). Only 100 spectators are allowed, so be sure to grab your ticket and come out to support us tonight as we take on Albemarle High School in the Class 5 State Semifinals!
If that doesn't work, go to gofan.co and search for Freedom High School (south riding)
For those who can't get a ticket or can't be there, we will be streaming the game for those with subscriptions through the NFHS network.
See you tonight at 6:00pm!

In my video to the program, I mentioned picture day being this Wednesday and listed the times. I accidentally switched the JV and Freshman team times. I have updated the slides to reflect this change.
The schedule should read as follows:
JV and Varsity: 4:30pm (Arrive at 4:15 to get checked in, practice will be after pictures)
Freshman: 5:00pm (Arrive at 4:45 to get checked in, practice will be after pictures)
Please wear home game jerseys.
All pictures will take place in the auxiliary gym. Individual pictures only. Codes will be given out for you to view the pictures after and make a purchase if you would like.
The team spirtwear store with Cheers Sports has been extended through tomorrow morning (2/23) at 10:00am if you didn't get a chance to put an order in. Here is the link to the store:
If you put an order in, but forgot a mask or anything else, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to have him add an item to your existing order. This must also be done by 10:00am tomorrow (2/23), so he can submit the order.
Please let Coach Davis (email@example.com) know if you have any other questions about this.
Just a final reminder to get those spiritwear orders in by tonight at Midnight!
Don't forget to order a mask for your athlete (only mandatory item) and add anything else they may want like some practice t-shirts or a hoodie to stay warm or a backpack for school! Then while you are at it, add some items for yourself! Almost all of the items in store can be customized with a name.

WE ALSO RECOMMEND A WARM HAT TO COVER YOUR FOREHEAD WHILE WAITING IN LINE TO GET YOUR TEMPERATURE CHECKED
PLEASE FILL OUT THE ATS PRIOR TO GETTING OUT OF YOUR VEHICLE (IF YOU NEED TO SCAN THE QR CODE, PLEASE DO SO AND THEN GO BACK TO YOUR CAR TO FILL OUT THE FORM
Final decisions on team placement will be made at 6:00. We can only meet with one athlete at a time, so it may take a while to get through all participants. We will keep these meetings brief by just letting the player know our decision. If a player wishes to find out more information about the decision we make, they will need to schedule a virtual meeting with one of the coaches on another day. We will have your athlete text you about 5-10 minutes before we meet with them. Please be ready to pick them up as they will be leaving the building as soon as they hear our decision and we don't want them waiting outside in the cold for too long.
This is a very difficult process for the coaches and some tough decisions will have to be made. We have A LOT of talent in our program this year and are excited about the future of Freedom Volleyball!

Also, don't forget your number and pins. You will turn in your number and pins after day 3 of tryouts.
All registrations should now be completed and all physicals should be turned in. If you haven't registered yet, you can still do it, but you may not be able to try out on Monday. Remember, tryouts begin at 12:00pm (for all freshman and anyone who has not been on a freedom volleyball team yet), but please arrive at the school at 11:45am for check in. Athletes who have been on a freedom volleyball team will asked to arrive between 1:30-1:45pm.
Please wait outside the building AT THE MAIN ENTRANCE (not the side door) for your last name group to be called. Do not gather in groups (even though you will be excited to see your friends, you MUST maintain 6 feet of social distance at all times). Anyone unable to follow our protocols will be asked to leave tryouts early. Make sure your ride does not leave before you get fully checked in (just in case there is a problem or you have a temperature above 100.3).
Please remember to bring AT LEAST 32oz of water.
General tryout/roster information:
A maximum of 12 players will be selected per team. We could take less players, but we will not take more.
We will consider athletes for all positions, but if after selecting teams and considering the future of the program, we do not have a spot for you on a team, then you will not have an opportunity to play for Freedom this spring. But there are still other opportunities for you (club volleyball, recreation leagues, open gyms through the community center). You can also request to be considered as a manager for our program if you would like.
It is possible that juniors may be offered a spot on JV if there are seniors currently playing in their position on Varsity and we believe that the junior will start on Varsity as a senior. Otherwise, a junior may not make a team this season but is welcome to come back in the fall and try out as a senior. Juniors offered a spot on JV have every right to turn down the offer, but that means they are choosing not to play for us this season. We will be having all juniors fill out a separate questionnaire during tryouts to let us know if they would accept a position on JV or not.
One more note: The practice schedule is up (found in the links section) and is subject to change. Please view the schedule to see if there are any more conflicts. The spring break games have been moved to the week after spring break.
ATS - All registered athletes should be receiving daily emails for COVID-19 symptom screening. This must be filled out on any day the ahlete will be reporting to the building for athletics. Please let us know (send an email to Coach Davis at email@example.com) if you are unable to log in after viewing and following the instructions in the guide below. Please practice filling it out over the weekend, so that way you can make sure it works and you are familiar with the process.

Thank you to those who have reached out about the upcoming season. Below you find information concerning the upcoming season.
First of all, we would like anyone who is interested in trying out this season or has already been a part of the program in the past to fill out the following questionnaire before tryouts: QUESTIONNAIRE
Tryouts are scheduled for February 15th-17th. 2/15/21 is President's Day so we will most likely schedule the tryout for that day to begin earlier (around 12:00pm) and go until about 3:30pm. Tryouts will begin after school (around 4:30pm) on 2/16 and 2/17 and go until about 7:30pm each evening. Masks are required to be worn at all times during tryouts. More details about tryouts will be posted as we get closer to 2/15. You are not required to attend all 3 tryouts, but you must attend at least one day of tryouts in order to be considered for a team. We encourage all athletes to attend as many days of tryouts as they can. We will select teams at the end of the 3rd day of tryouts. There are 3 teams:
1. Freshman team (only freshman are eligible to participate on this team)
2. JV team (only freshman, sophomores, and certain juniors are eligible to participate on this team)
3. Varsity team (all athletes are eligible to participate on this team)
Please remember to turn in your physical paperwork to the office (completed and signed Freedom Physical Form) and complete your online registration by 2/8/21. You will not be allowed to tryout without these items being completed.
One more note, off-season practices are not permitted at this time. Please continue to condition and work out on your own so that you will be ready (physically) to tryout on the 15th.
Please email Coach Davis at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions or concerns.
